This series began in the Scottish Highlands at the world famous Glenfiddich Distillery, where Michael Sanzone lived as an Artist in Residence in 2008. Inspired by the journey of wood used to make the casks, each handmade work in this series highlights the distinct colors, markings, and beauty of the reclaimed casks. The weathered texture, complemented by the slight scent of the whisky soaked wood, leads to a sensory experience that is the Scottish landscape from the artist’s viewpoint.
